Health Psychology professor begins international collaboration on child development

August 22, 2017

Professor Jan Wallander just returned from a sabbatical leave spent at University of Auckland, New Zealand. In addition to providing seminars and guest lectures, he developed collaborations with an interdisciplinary team of researchers conducting the Growing Up in New Zealand study, a longitudinal cohort study following close to 7,000 children tracking their health and psychological development over time. With the first measurements being obtained in late fetal development, the children are currently being assessed when they are 8 years old. Jan is leading the analyses and writing of several manuscripts addressing how exposure to cumulative risk factors over time in early development is associated with problematic outcomes in multiple domains at 4.5 years of age.
