Marisela Yepez

Bio: 
Marisela is currently a Health Psychology PhD Student at UC Merced. Marisela’s research interests include culturally tailored health communications and interventions. Marisela studies how sociocultural and familial support networks influence health behaviors and decision-making. She graduated from UC Merced with a bachelor’s degree in public health and psychology. She previously worked as a research project manager at UC Merced’s Health Sciences Research Institutes’, Translational Research Center, and the Health Communications and Interventions Lab. It is through this work that she became interested in working with hard to reach, vulnerable populations and bridging the gap between research and practice. Marisela helped lead the training and inclusion of Promotores de Salud into research projects. Through her research she aims to develop culturally tailored health communications and interventions that influence behavior change in communities.
